Protect Your Personal Information
You may protect your personal information and avoid identity theft through awareness about phishing scams.
A phishing scam is a form of identity theft where the scammers try to get you to reveal private information such as a username,
account number, or password by posing as a legitimate entity. One of the most recent phishing scams in our area is directed
at debit card and credit card holders. The call states that the debit card has been deactivated and directs the member to
respond to a prompt and enter a their card number. Here’s a few tips to remember.
- Marine Credit Union does not send e-mails or make automated outgoing calls that would require a member to provide personal information.
- If you believe the contact may be legitimate, contact the financial institution yourself. The key is that you should initiate contact, using contact information that you know or have verified.
- Review account statements regularly to ensure accuracy.
Marine Credit Union is dedicated to protecting your personal financial information with high levels of security
on our systems. We appreciate your continued patronage.
